Our Purpose
The purpose is to raise awareness of the endangered Western Monarch Butterfly in California, as well as other critically important pollinators, threatened by habitat loss, the use of pesticides, and climate change, among other factors; to promote community actions to protect and enhance the western monarch population; to raise funds to create and maintain beautiful community gardens for the Western Monarch Butterfly and other insect pollination. We do so by acquiring and planting, in beautiful community gardens, native milkweed, the plant most essential to the Western Monarch’s survival, and other native plants the Monarch caterpillars eat and lay their eggs on. The Foundation, through its educational activities, will raise awareness of the endangered Monarch and promote community actions to protect and enhance its population. The Foundation’s fund-raising activities will support these goals. With our new Save the Monarch Butterfly Foundation we join in the efforts of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Convservation international nonprofit organization.
